Although I appreciate a dose of technicality in my music, I don't really gravitate to tech-death. This album is an exception. I'm sure you've heard the tired critique of tech-death, "Technical for technicality's sake," but this album is not that. This album is highly technical, highly rhythmic, and surprisingly melodic. The transitions are still followable for practiced listeners and the band doesn't try and pull a fast one and sweep the rhythm out from under you. This album is seriously good.
